Updated Compensation FAQ
- How will the new pay rates affect my current assignments?
New pay rates will go into effect starting Friday, January 17th. All events booked on January 17th and after will be compensated at the new pay rate. Any event before January 17th will be honored at the old pay rate.
- What are the new pay rates, and how do they differ from the current ones?
New pay rate information can be found in this article. This new structure is differentiating event types for our DRs, increasing base pay, and giving more earning potential and growth opportunities for all of our DRs!
The old pay structure was $25/hr for all events, regardless of event difficulty, and only certain states had access to events that pay at a higher rate. Now, our base pay has increased, and you are compensated more fairly for the event type you are on.
Additionally, our Late Cancel/Reschedule fee used to be $20 for any EUO or Deposition canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours. Now, you will be receiving the equivalent of an hour compensation for the respective event type for these canceled/rescheduled events.
- How do pay rates work if I am a higher level DR taking a lower level event?
Compensation is based on event type, not DR level. So, if you are an Expert level DR and choose to take an EUO (that is not an enterprise client), you will be compensated at the rate of $22/hour.
- I got asked to cover for an event that is above my level. Does that mean I’m promoted?
Sometimes we ask lower level DRs to cover higher level events when there is high volume. If you have been asked to cover an event that is above your level, you will still be compensated at the appropriate pay rate for that event, regardless of your level. However, your level will remain unaffected.
- What criteria are used to determine promotion to Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert levels?
Please see our quality expectations here.
- How do I qualify for Enterprise events, and which states have access to these clients?
You must be an Expert Level DR to qualify. All states have access to at least one enterprise client type, and we are working to continue to increase these event types for you. Volume and availability for enterprise events are subject to change.
- How do I know if an event is an Expert Level - Enterprise event?
An Enterprise event is determined by the client that is taking the event. These events can be depositions or EUOs. If you see any of the following clients on an event, the event is Enterprise:
- American Family
- AllState
- Farmers
- Travelers
- USAA
- You can find the client here in the platform:
- Are EUOs always Beginner Level and Depositions always Intermediate or Advanced Level events?
As of right now, the only exception to EUO and Deposition leveling is that Enterprise events could be either EUOs or Depositions. However, our event leveling structure is always changing to best accommodate the needs of the event, and this is subject to change in the future.
- Why are Intermediate and Advanced Level events compensated the same?
We differentiate between Intermediate and Advanced reporters to provide a pathway and checkpoint to becoming an Expert reporter. Intermediate reporters are typically conducting Depositions for the first time and are building their skills. Advanced reporters have demonstrated consistent, high-quality work and have access to more events. However, there is currently no difference in the difficulty between Intermediate and Advanced events, which is why the pay is the same.
- Will the pay rates for existing events be adjusted according to the new structure immediately, or will it apply only to future events?
It will be applied to all events booked for January 17th and later.
- Will the Enhanced Cancellations Policy be applied to events already scheduled before the new policy takes effect?
This will apply for all events booked on January 17th and canceled less than 24 hours before. Example: If you have an 8AM EUO on January 20th, and it is canceled on January 19th at 8:01AM, you will be compensated $22.
- Can I expect any changes to the On-Call Pay rate or Guaranteed First Hour policy?
On-call pay will stay the same at $15/hour, and we will continue to guarantee the 10 minutes of prep and first hour of any EUO or Deposition, if it ends before the scheduled hour. See the table below for the event type and the minimum guaranteed pay.
Event Level | 10 minutes of prep + 1 hour minimum |
Beginner | $25.67 |
Intermediate/Advanced | $32.67 |
Expert | $40.83 |
For EUOs and Depositions that are scheduled for less than an hour, you will be guaranteed their scheduled time, plus 10 minutes of preparation time.
For Deposition in Aid policies, please see this help article.
- Where can I find a detailed breakdown of the new pay structure and event types?
This article has all the detailed information you need to understand the new structure.
- How can I track my progress and know when I’m eligible for a promotion to a higher level?
The DR Operations team monitors your events for quality weekly, and aims to do regular monthly promotions. Our promotion criteria is based on these guidelines, and your adherence to the Terms of Service. The DR Ops team also sends frequent feedback emails if there are certain flags found in your event, and if you wish to be promoted, implementation of this feedback is expected.
If you have questions about your track to promotion, please email digitalreporters@parrothq.com.
- Are there any additional training or resources available to help me advance to higher levels?
Our Digital Reporter Course on our Learning Platform (parrot.talentlms.com) was just updated! We recommend reviewing this at a frequent cadence, especially if you receive feedback about a specific item in your events.
Our support site is also a great place to review expectations for events.
- Who can I contact if I have questions about the new pay rates or policies?
Please send an email to digitalreporters@parrothq.com. Please do not call our Event Support line, as that line is reserved for in-event communications. If you wish to set up a call with us, please email us and explain your question or concern, and we can find a time to chat if needed.
