Additional Policies
Several policies have also been updated to better support your work and ensure fair compensation:
- Cancellations Policy: If an event is canceled less than 24 hours before its start time, you will now receive a full hour of compensation based on the event type.
- On-Call Pay: The on-call rate remains at $15/hour. (unchanged)
- Guaranteed First Hour: You will continue to receive payment for the 10 minutes of preparation and first hour of any event, regardless of its actual length, if it is scheduled to be an hour or longer.
- Bonuses: Bonuses are only awarded if the scheduled event occurs as planned. If an event is canceled, you will not be eligible to receive a bonus. In such cases, compensation will be provided at the standard rate applicable to canceled events.
Event Level | 10 minutes of prep + 1 hour minimum |
Beginner | $25.67 |
Intermediate/Advanced | $32.67 |
Expert | $40.83 |
- First Event: Digital Reporters will receive an additional $25 bonus after they complete their first event. (unchanged)
- Event Switches: If you take over for a digital reporter in the middle of an event, you will be compensated for the length of time you are on that event, at that event level compensation. (unchanged)
- Pay Period: The pay period is the previous week Friday to the current week Thursday, and you are paid out weekly every Friday morning. Please be aware that Parrot does not currently distribute pay stubs. (unchanged)
- Pay Partner: Parrot utilizes Stripe for payments which are processed each Friday. Please allow 2 days for payments to appear in your bank account. (unchanged)
Pathways to Higher Pay and Events
As you gain more experience and demonstrate high-quality work, you’ll have access to higher-paying events. Promotions to Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert levels are based on performance and event quality. The Operations team conducts regular monthly reviews for potential promotions.
