Compensation

NOTE: The pay outlined below is only valid through January 16th, 2025. Please see this updated article for the pay structure on January 17, 2025 and after.


Hourly Rate:  $25 per hour

Digital Reporters are paid $25 per hour, pro-rated to the minute that they spend on a Zoom call, including the 10 minutes spent pre-event organizing and preparing for the event.

Guaranteed Pay:

The minimum compensation for an event scheduled for an hour or longer will be $29.17 (10 min pre-event and 60 min minimum), even if the event lasts less than 1 hour. (Applicable to events that have not been canceled.)

Minimum compensation for events scheduled for less than an hour will be the scheduled length of the events.


Note: Some states have shorter events that pay at a rate of $35/hour; please see the linked page for more information about compensation these events.


First Event

Digital Reporters will receive an additional $25 bonus after they complete their first event.  


Cancelled/Rescheduled Events

If an event is cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, Digital Reporters will be compensated a flat rate of $20.


On-Call Events

On-Call events are compensated at the rate of $15/hour. If you are pulled into an event during your on-call time, you will be paid for the amount of time you are in your on-call at the on-call rate, and the amount of time you are in the event at the standard hourly rate.


Event Changeovers

If you take over for a digital reporter in the middle of an event, you will be compensated for the length of time you are on that event.


Paid Weekly

Digital Reporters are paid weekly via direct deposit to a bank account.  Pay is initiated on Friday for the previous Friday through Thursday events. Please be aware that Parrot does not currently distribute pay stubs. 


Stripe Payments

Parrot utilizes Stripe for payments which are processed each Friday.  Please allow 2 days for payments to appear in your bank account.
